I hesitate to say it for fear of jinxing it, but it looks like we’re back! This whole process took much longer than I wanted it to (as you might have guessed.) The following factors contributed:

  • The machines spent a reasonable amount of time just coming across the country in the moving van

  • It took AT&T longer than it should have to get us set up with DSL in our house (especially given the previous resident had DSL set up, and we took over her line, right down to the telephone number!)

  • We got dynamic IP at home instead of static, so I needed to set the blog (etc) up through my consultancy

  • The OS was so old through the consultancy that I had to set up a specific MySQL for a client earlier

  • The default PHP didn’t want to talk to that version of MySQL, and having two MySQLs running at the same time was problematic.

  • Out here in CA, I have a 70-minute commute (each way), roughly 9 hours of work-day (incl. lunch) and an infant at home, time comes at a much higher premium than it did before.

But finally, the stars aligned, enough of the boxes are unpacked, and we don’t have anything else that’s /gotta/ get done this weekend.

It’s been frustrating not having the blog up, as there’s been quite a bit I wanted to tell you from the amazing frustration of house-hunting out here, to how “cool and overcast with at little bit of mist” has already become “bad” weather, to what an amazingly cool place I work, to more Sam details (of course).

So, here we go. Oh, and do me a favor, re-blog-roll me? I know you took me off because, you’d not seen me for months and were tired of having a broken link on your blogroll, but I’m back, now, baby!

Cheers,

AC
