Well, Grand-mère left early afternoon today, right after breakfast. Yeah, you read that right. What of it? Now we’re out of biological grandmothers. OK, Sam has one more grandmother (my dad’s “new” wife). She’s been part of my dad’s life for years and years, but she still doesn’t really feel like family the same way to me. No offense meant, just that Carolyn and I each had mothers during our childhoods, neither of which she was. Besides, she lives in NC — a breezy jaunt of just 8 hours or so. This is the long way of saying we’re all out of grandmothers.

They’ve been great to have around. With Ca’s mom, we ate well, and I didn’t have to do a thing in the kitchen. With mine, I did much of the dinner prep, but she put up a coat of primer in the nursery to make things go more smoothly when the Trading Spaces-style event happens. As I said earlier, each playing to her strength. It was great that both of them had “doing laundry” as a strength. We aren’t yet desparate. We’ve been given a great push off in the right direction. Now if we can just avoid the descent into abject squalor, that’ll be great.

Soon, but not yet, we’ll be willing to try a couple of visits. I’ll post more details in a subsequent entry.
