We’re in out new house! First major shout-outs to our moving crew. Thanks so much Laura & Doug, Rebecca, Todd, “Upper Body” Bill, Beth, Mike, Megan & Ian, and of course, mom & Tom. You guys made what has always been (for me) a long and irritating process, significantly shorter and less irritating. Carolyn and I genuinely appreciate your help.

My mom and her man, Tom, spent yesterday cleaning our old place. They got it almost, almost done. We’ve got just a teeny, little more to do. What an amazing relief. I’m looking forward to being entirely out of there — not because I hated it (I didn’t) just for a sense of closure.

I spent most of yesterday setting up our networking (version 1.0), our desks and the basement/office generally. Carolyn set up the kitchen area. The dining room is going to have to wait until we can go get the dining room table from storage in Ca’s parents’ basement. The living room needs to wait (mostly) until the electrician has come and gone. The kid’s room will have to wait until we have the time and patience for it.

After all that wonderfulness, all the outpouring of support from family and friends, all the hanging out in our very cool “new” house, I’ve been down pretty much all day. I don’t know what it is. I assume it’s just a Beta process from having been so hyperactive the past few days, but I don’t know. I’m staring at my empty desk (unused since Charlottesville), and all of the boxes of computer books and software, etc. And I just don’t feel like filling it.

Part of it, too is probably that for the past long time, I’ve been focused on getting to the point we just passed. From coordinating our house hunting, to dealing with the bank, to closing, to painting the place, to packing, to moving. All to get our stuff into our new house. Now what? Not that I don’t have anything to do. I’ve got some work to get to for Rock & Snow, I’ve got yard care to do, I’ve got my stuff to find places for, etc. But I’ve passed the momentous occasion.

And finally, part of it is probably Carolyn’s mood. Affected both by pregnancy hormones and the heat, she can get cranky. I’ve been questioning the wisdom of moving into a home without central air conditioning at the beginning of summer with a pregnant wife. Oh well, too late now!

I guess I just need to find my groove. Blah. I hate the blahs. This too will pass.
