I was wandering through Netflix (not quite as fun as wandering through a “real” movie store, but much cheaper!), and I came across The Experiment which I added to my queue. I was interested to read one reviewer say that it was clearly based on the Stanford Prison Experiment which a quick google search turned up for me.
I enjoy psychology, even though I did rather poorly in it in college. And I think that the Stanford Prison Experiment is fascinating. Of course, one thing in particular stands out for me:
Our planned two-week investigation into the psychology of prison life had to be ended prematurely after only six days because of what the situation was doing to the college students who participated. In only a few days, our guards became sadistic and our prisoners became depressed and showed signs of extreme stress.
In our current townhouse, we live next door to a prison guard.
